Nilanthi Perera is a Partner in our Real Estate practice and has been with Varners from 2005. She was called to the Bar as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 1988.
Current Practice
Since joining the firm, Nilanthi has instructed a wide range of corporate and private clients in relation to performing complete title due diligence, preparation of title reports, deeds of transfer, condominium declarations, lease and tenancy agreements and tripartite agreements. Her involvement further extends to advising on mortgages (overdrafts and loans, commercial and housing, etc.), mortgage agreements, concurrent mortgages, corporate and other mortgage bonds, guarantees, and indemnities.
Nilanthi is currently involved with large scale construction projects, in advising local and foreign developers and buyers on legal aspects and practicalities of residential, commercial and mixed development projects. She is currently advising and assisting in the development of a major land reclamation project located adjacent to Colombo's commercial hub.
She is well experienced in all forms of property and real estate relating matters, including gifts, leases, sales and purchases of condominiums and immovable property. She regularly advises numerous banks and financial institutions on various legal matters arising out of day-to-day banking transactions and has also advised and assisted corporate entities and private clients on various types of commercial and real estate related agreements and contracts.

Before joining Varners, she was formerly attached to two leading law firms in Sri Lanka where she specialised in banking, conveyancing and other real estate transactions.
