Overview

Kumutharanjani Nandakumar is a Partner at Varners and counts over 40 years of experience in the fields of real estate and conveyancing. She was called to the Bar as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 1980.

Current Practice

At present, Kumuthini advises a wide variety of clientele in relation to condominiums, conveyancing and real estate properties, including residential, commercial, and agricultural properties. Clients also retain her services on matters relating to encumbrances such as mortgages, liens and the transfer of legal title.

She is frequently engaged to advice on a full range of matters relating to real estate and conveyancing by numerous corporate clients, including large national and multinational banking and financial services institutions and notable development companies engaged in condominium construction.

Kumuthini handles a wide range of litigation matters and actively advises private clients in relation to divorce, separation, maintenance and custody related matters, succession and inheritance planning, and testamentary matters, which includes execution of wills and obtaining probates and letters of administrations in contested matters. She also oversees and manages affairs relating to the human resources of the Firm.

Other Relevant Experience

Kumuthini has been a Legal Counsel to a major finance and investment company in Sri Lanka, and has served as Company Secretary to several well-known companies in Sri Lanka. As legal advisor, she has provided legal advice and dealt with a whole range of matters including conveyancing and land matters, labour issues and cases involving the recovery of debts owed to lending institutions.

Over the years, she has been retained by numerous banks, financiers, companies and trade establishments to provide advice regarding the full range of legal complexities pertaining to leasing, mortgages and encumbrances, whilst also being involved in broader matters relating to the conveyance of property.
